St. Cloud Minnesota Skate Park
DESCRIPTION
The St. Cloud’s new Heritage Skate Plaza is located within Heritage Park on 33rd Ave, next to the Costco. The new skatepark is expected to be complete in 2020 and will replace the original skatepark located 350 feet away at that same site. The previous skate facility was demolished last year in preparation of a the new Costco store. Money for the new park comes from the sale of the land to Costco as well as portions of sales tax dollars. The history of the original skatepark runs deep, having been built in 2010 after a long, strong, community-led fundraising campaign. In December of 2018, St. Cloud approved the skatepark design developed by Stantec and New Line Skateparks.
CONSRUCTION
Local Minnesota General Contractors bid on the skatepark construction project. SPA Skateparks teamed with the awarded contractor as the specialty skatepark shotcrete subcontractor. SPA Skateparks scope included ACI Certified Shotcrete Nozzlemen and specialty skatepark shapers.

TERRAIN
The new St. Cloud Minnesota Skate Park is approximately 20,000 square feet and can generally be categorized as having a large multi depth bowl, and a large plaza. Let’s start with this as an overall description – it’s amazing. The bowl has depths of 4, 5 and 6 feet with a partial 7 foot extension to create the deepest pocket. The plaza pay homage to the previous skatepark, albeit providing different and varied terrain and skate lines. Fun return walls, a stair set, various ledges, rails and manual pads are all laid out in a really creative way. We’ll let you be the judge.
Other supporting project amenities include a pre-manufactured concrete and steel restroom, and a 24-foot hexagonal open-air park shelter, made of wood and steel. Construction will also include landscaping, sidewalks and lighting.
