City of Pharr Texas Skate Park
The City of Pharr Texas Victor Garcia Municipal Skate Park is open! An official ribbon cutting event is being scheduled for early 2019.
DESCRIPTION
Introducing South Texas valley’s newest public skateboard park – a new standard for the design and construction of skateparks in South Texas. The City of Pharr selected Austin based SPA Skateparks for the design and build of the skatepark located within Victor Garcia Park. The project was revitalized from 2015 when SPA conducted a series of public input meetings to gather desired skate features and terrain types from local users. Working alongside design partner, New Line Skateparks, the project kicked off by coordinating with the City to address overall park draining issues and delineating project scope. The City decided to self-perform the re-grading of the entire park to eliminate existing issues the park experienced after rain events. A skatepark design was developed to reflect user input and City requests. Once approved, the concept design was developed to include detailed construction drawings. A ground-breaking event was held by the City of Pharr on Oct 4, 2018. Skatepark construction was completed in approximately two months. All of SPA Skateparks projects have been completed on time and within budget.
TERRAIN
The City of Pharr Victor Garcia Skate Park is generally represented in a V shape layout. The two clearly developed legs can be ridden independently of each other, or may be combined to extend the run. Due to site and budgetary conditions all terrain is placed at or above existing grade and leans more towards a plaza / street terrain type. Quarter pipes and other transitioned elements serve as turnaround features. The skatepark is positioned purposefully and appropriately towards one side of the park. The remaining green space may be used as a sports practice area or any future park facilities the City may consider.

- 3 ft Bank Hip
