City of Fort Worth Texas Dickies Skate Park
The Dickies Skate Plaza is complete and open to the public. The City of Fort Worth’s skatepark grand opening event was held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 .
Did you know the 2023 Skater XL game has an exact, replica map of the Dickies Skate Plaza?!
DESCRIPTION
SPA Skateparks is delighted to have been selected as the skatepark contractor for the Dickies Skate Park and concrete pump track. The skate park is located within Fire Station Park smack in the middle of Fort Worth, Texas’s historic southside district.
The project’s origins started with the advocacy of Fort Worth skaters, rallied in large part by Magnolia Skateshop who raised $80,000 toward the effort. At the same time, Near Southside, Inc., a non-profit organization that continually improves the South side’s district, took the project by the reigns and helped secure a $300,000 contribution from the VF Foundation, the non-profit arm of VF Corp whose collections of brands include…..Dickies! The City of Fort Worth paid for the remainder, ultimately allowing for the development of one very unique skate plaza and concrete pump track. Subsequently, welcome to The City of Fort Worth’s “Dickies Skate Plaza” at Fire Station Park. The history of the Dickies Skate Park project is rich and well documented. So rather than re-tell it here, feel free to click on one of the “external links” below.
As of this writing, this is the second public skate park in Fort Worth, and both have been built by SPA Skateparks. Chisholm Trail Skate Park was built in two phases, both of which were procured by the City as design-build projects. Chisholm is a 20 minute drive South, and definitely worth the visit. Skatepark tourism is real!
SKATEPARK TERRAIN
They don’t call it the Dickies Skate Plaza for nothing. The skatepark truly is a plaza and meant to have similar terrain found within a big city center. The skate lines are endless and the skate features are many. So many in fact, that it makes more sense to look at the posted photos and skatepark design renderings (by our friends at New Line Skateparks) below than to list them in word format here.
Additionally, there are pedestrian pathways that bring people straight through the skating action. The adjacent green lawn space will no doubt be an incredible community and event space as well as a relaxing place to take a break between skate session.
And let’s not forget about the concrete pump track. Unlike the pump track at the Mueller Skate Park in Austin which is wider and more advanced, the Dickies Skate Plaza’s pump track has lower elevations designed in a circular ribbon. It can still be fast for those that want to. Either way, it’s certainly fun for all ages and skill levels. Undoubtedly there will be all the expected user groups found here at the “skatepark”. Scooters, inline skates, and even roller skaters will be riding the pump track alongside the skateboarders.
HOURS AND RULES
The Dickies skatepark rules and hours signage are written below. The Dickies Skate Plaza is a public park owned and operated by the City of Fort Worth. We strongly suggest to check with the City of Fort Worth to confirm these rules haven’t changed prior to your visit. The facility will have a skatepark lighting system to extend park usage into those cooler summer evenings.
