Arlington Texas Skate Park

DESCRIPTION

The new Arlington Texas Skate Park at Webb Community Park is now open to the public, following a skate park grand opening event hosted by Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department on December 10, 2019.

The skatepark was designed and constructed as part of the City of Arlington’s Southeast Recreation Center project. The 12.8 acre site will house a 39,000 square foot recreation center and will bring much-anticipated facilities and programming to the Southeast part of the City. The Park, Recreation and Open Space Master plan identified the project in 2004. Funding came from the 2014 bond program. In early 2019, City council approved $22.2 million for its development.

SPA Skateparks was selected as the qualified skatepark construction subcontractor for the Southeast Recreation Center (SERC) project. Responsible for turn-key skatepark construction, operations included fine grading, steel fabrication, reinforcement, concrete formwork, and all shotcrete and concrete placement.

Arlington currently has four skate parks within its City limits. The Webb Community Skate Park is the first skate facility within the Southern part of the City. Other skateparks are located at Vandergriff Park, Burl Wilkes Park and Randol Mill Park.

TERRAIN

The Webb Community Skate Park consists of two separate, rectangular plaza lanes or “fingers” for a total of approximately 4,000 square feet. Each plaza lane connects to a sidewalk located at one side, allowing access the parking lot and Southeast Recreation Center (SERC). The sidewalk between the two plaza lanes has two benches designed for both seating and skate features. See photos attached to this page for Webb Community Skate Park photos. One skate lane is more ledge focused, and includes a center manual pad. One end is a quarter pipe and the other is a transition to bank with an extension in the middle.

The other skate lane has a center A-frame ledge, rail and bank combo.  There’s a bank turn around feature at one end. The other end has a mini ramp. One side of the mini has a center spine. Those that don’t wish to skate the mini can skate over the roll-overs on either side.

RULES & HOURS

As of this writing, the City of Arlington’s website states the park is open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight. For any other information or questions regarding skatepark rules and hours, we suggest you contact The City of Arlington’s Parks and Recreation Department.
